Photography in Canada

Whether you’re a photography enthusiast or a commercial photographer looking for some great images to sell, Canada is definitely a place to visit. Photographers can take pictures of the beautiful Canadian countryside and diverse wildlife or visit Canada’s cities and take pictures of its grand buildings and diverse ethnic communities. Here’s a look at some of the places you could visit in Canada that will provide you with some great images.

The great Canadian outdoors

The Canadian countryside is truly majestic as a large part of it remains untouched and uninhabited. The land is full of beautiful lakes, serene rivers, dense pine wood forests and rolling mountains. Canada has so many lakes that experts believe that almost 9% of Canada’s surface area is covered by fresh water. We also recommend that you visit the Niagara fall’s which is considered by most to be one of the biggest and most beautiful waterfalls in the world. The country is famous for its harsh snow and ice winters which completely change the lands outlook. So for those who are interested in capturing images of the harshness of winter, Canada during winter season is the ideal place to be. If however your more interested in images of landscape without snow and ice then you should plan your trip in late spring or summer season.

Canadian Wildlife

This rugged countryside is home to a wide variety of wildlife ranging from grizzly bears and wolves to sea lions and eagles. So whether you’re into bear watching or bird watching Canada is definitely a photographer’s heaven. But Canada is also a very big country and covering all this area can be difficult. Therefore we suggest that you book a seat on the great Canadian railroad which crisscrosses this beautiful country covering all its provinces and major cities. It would be a good idea to book tour guide as they would be able to point out great places to target. This trip will be worth the investment in time and money and you’ll come back with some great photographs of the Canadian wilderness.

Toronto

If you’re more interested in capturing images of the hustle and bustle of city life Toronto is the ideal place for you. The city is the commercial heart of Canada and is ranked amongst the world’s top economic cities. The city’s architecture comprises of both old buildings from the 18th century and modern buildings which have only recently been completed. This provides photographers with a diverse portfolio of images to work with. Buildings and structures that you shouldn’t miss include; CN Tower, City Hall, Toronto Art Gallery, Allen Lambert Galleria, Ontario legislative building, Casa Loma and the Prince Edward Viaduct. From the vantage point of the CN Tower the whole of Toronto city is visible and makes for an interesting photograph in itself. The city’s residents are equally diverse with over 49% of the local population born outside Canada. So if you’re interested in capturing images of people then again we strongly recommend that you take time out and visit Toronto.
